This annual report shares USAID’s investments and achievements in the water sector for FY 2016 and looks forward to a new era of water programming to create a more water-secure world, as envisioned by the U.S. Government Global Water Strategy and USAID’s Water and Development Plan in support of the Strategy.
The report highlights USAID’s efforts to address the challenge of improving water and sanitation access to a growing global population and engaging and empowering communities to become advocates, entrepreneurs, technical experts, change agents, and environmental stewards.
As a result of USAID support from FY 2008 to FY 2016, 37.3 million people received sustainable access to an improved water supply, and 24.1 million people received improved access to sanitation facilities.
