Grant to Washington State University (WSU) to create a business management training center called the Center for Business Excellence at the Polytechnic University of Bucharest (UPB). This grant, which continues support begun in 1991 (see PD-FCU-468), will fully institutionalize management and business counselor training at UPB. WSU will help UPB to base its management training program on the U.S. land grant model of higher education. Activities will include: training of 3,000 public and private sector managers and of 20 Master Counselors; continuing education of 4,000 managers, with emphasis on management training for privatization; establishment of a UPB Office of Human Resource Management and upgrading of UPB”s student job placement capabilities; and support for UPB”s Information Access Center (computing research center).
