Matching Support Grant is provided under project 9365060 to the University of Arizona to increase its faculty”s capacity to serve on A.I.D. Title XII projects supporting agricultural and natural resource development in arid lands. Funds will help finance: (1) language training, refresher, and orientation programs for faculty involved in projects in West Africa, Cape Verde, and possibly the Middle East; (2) seminars and workshops to enhance faculty awareness of women”s role in agriculture; (3) programs to increase faculty familiarity with A.I.D. policies and procedures; (4) workshops and seminars on technical subjects such as farming systems research, policy analysis, and institution building strategies; and (5) the acquisition of library and training materials.
