The state-of-the-arts on five economic issues related to land reform is summarized in this article. These issues are agricultural production, capital formation, effective demand, employment and technology. The conclusion is reached that traditional economics issues do not lie at the heart of the land reform question. Land reform is socio-political surgery which goes well beyond the boundaries of current economic analysis.
