Grant is provided under the Private and Voluntary Organizations project 4980251 to the United Mission to Nepal (UMN) to expand its program to make biogas more accessible, especially to poorer farmers, women, and residents of the hill areas. The program includes: construction of household digesters; research and development in digester design and equipment; expansion of facilities for local manufacture of digester components; training of farmers and extension workers in the use, maintenance, and construction of digesters and in use of the gas and slurry; development of the concept of community biogas plants; and sociological studies of the impact of biogas development on living patterns.
