Comparative Analysis of Shock Response Programs and Resilience Impacts in Zimbabwe

The study, conducted by the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), evaluates the effectiveness of World Vision Zimbabwe's (WVZ) resilience-building projects in enhancing food and nutrition security, diversifying livelihoods, creating productive assets, and increasing community market participation. The analysis is based on a quasi-experimental impact assessment design, combining qualitative and quantitative methods, including focus group discussions with communities and government officials, and a household survey. The study's findings highlight the positive impacts of WVZ's projects on food and nutrition security, income, and productive assets, as well as the challenges faced, such as low adoption rates of climate-smart agriculture and limited market participation. The report concludes with policy implications, emphasizing the need for longer-term investments in resilience-building efforts, increased advisory services on climate-smart agriculture, and enhanced market participation through horizontal and vertical linkages.
