Abstract
The study was funded by USAID and implemented by a consortium of partners led by Mercy Corps. The goal of the program is to sustainably reduce levels of persistent acute malnutrition in Turkana and Samburu Counties. The report presents the findings of the baseline study, which aimed to understand the livelihoods of households in three livelihood zones: Central Pastoral, Turkwel Riverine Agro-Pastoral, and Lake Turkana Fishing. The study used a livelihoods-based framework to analyze how different households obtain access to the things they need to survive and prosper. The report provides an in-depth understanding of the current situation and will enable USAID Nawiri to make evidence-based design decisions for proposed interventions in future seasons.
