Abstract
It was produced under the Nawiri project supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and focuses on the livestock service delivery in Northern Kenya's arid and semi-arid lands (ASALs). The study examines the constraints and opportunities for improved veterinary, fodder, and extension services in Marsabit and Isiolo Counties, and presents the views of selected experts on livestock services in ASALs. The report highlights various constraints, including pastoralist mobility, limited trained animal health providers, and uncoordinated efforts by organizations, as well as opportunities, such as the existence of community disease reporters and mobile platforms for animal health and disease data collection. The study aims to inform the design of interventions to improve livestock service delivery in Northern Kenya.
