Abstract
The study, conducted by the Mercy Corps USAID Nawiri Consortium, aims to inform pilot studies and the design of Phase 2 implementation by collecting in-depth evidence on immediate, underlying, and systemic drivers of acute malnutrition. The report presents the results of the baseline qualitative research, which explored community perceptions of factors related to acute malnutrition, maternal, infant, and young child nutrition (MIYCN) practices, use and barriers to use of health-care services, and gender dynamics in employment and household decision making. The study's findings and recommendations are intended to support community-driven activity design and ultimately reduce acute malnutrition in Samburu County.
