Tanzania VASD Assessment Report

The report was prepared by WellShare International and funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The report assesses the strengths and weaknesses of the vitamin A supplementation program in Tanzania at the national, regional, district, and health facility levels. The report also identifies the roles and responsibilities of different organizations, government agencies, and the resources required to implement the program. Additionally, the report examines the data reporting system and available data on service outputs, including routine vitamin A supplementation and post-partum vitamin A supplementation provision, and trends in coverage. The report provides recommendations for improving the program, including the need for further expansion of vitamin A distribution, especially in remote villages and hard-to-reach communities.
