USAID Advancing Nutrition Activities in the Kyrgyz Republic: Impact Evaluation on Infant and Young Child Feeding Outcomes (August 2023)

The evaluation assesses the effectiveness of the project's interventions in improving nutrition behaviors and outcomes among women and children in the country. The project aimed to improve knowledge, attitudes, and practices related to healthy nutrition, increase access to nutritious foods, and strengthen the capacity of the health system to deliver nutrition services. The evaluation used a cluster-randomized design and surveyed households in intervention and comparison areas to measure the impact of the project's activities on 20 nutrition-related outcomes. The results show significant improvements in infant and young child feeding indicators in areas supported by the project, particularly in exclusive breastfeeding, children's diet, and junk food consumption.
