Abstract
The study, funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), aimed to inform pilot studies and Phase 2 design implementation by collecting in-depth evidence on immediate, underlying, and systemic drivers of acute malnutrition. The report presents the findings from the baseline qualitative research, which explored community perceptions of factors related to acute malnutrition, maternal, infant, and young child nutrition practices, use and barriers to use of health care services, and gender dynamics in employment and household decision making. The study's recommendations include community sensitization and advocacy, strengthening the community health system, high-impact nutrition interventions, and increasing women's empowerment.
