Abstract
The Ministry of Irrigation (MOI) will implement the project. Earthmoving equipment to be provided to the EDC and the GIC will include draglines, backhoes, scrapers, and hydraulic dredges, along with supporting transportation equipment and shop and field maintenance equipment. The project will also provide the two companies with engineering and management consulting services, and will train key service managers in maintenance, repair, and overhaul procedures in the U.S. manufacturers" factory or factory-related schools. In addition, U.S. manufacturers will upon installation provide 1-2 weeks of field training in operating, servicing, and maintaining all major mechanized equipment and vehicles. The project will help the two companies to meet MOI requirements for land reclamation by excavating new supply and drainage canals, widening and deepening existing supply and drainage canals, and maintaining canals, the latter including periodic removal of silt and of vegetation and the dressing of side slopes.
