Agricultural research project

PES covers the period 8/79-12/81 and consists of a facesheet based on an attached special evaluation (XD-AAN-267-A). Action decisions are for the GOM to: (1) identify positions that Malawi participants will assume upon returning from U.S. training; (2) provide additional financial support of Malawi research personnel in order to fully utilize the technical and equipment assistance provided by the project; (3) review the Library Development Plan and recommend improvements; and (4) establish a professional career structure for librarians. Other decisions are for the University of Florida (UF) to complete procurement of equipment for field research stations; for the Board for International Food and Agricultural Development (BIFAD) to clarify its role to USAID/M and the UF team; and for the UF home office to distribute copies of this evaluation to the UF project team and to prepare a summary of comments for use by the team and USAID/M.
