Trade between developing countries (intratrade) is often thought to hold considerable potential for future expansion of developing country exports.

Abstract
However, much of the research in this area has focused on industrial goods; detailed analyses of the past trends and future possibilities for agricultural trade between developing countries has received scant attention. Aiming to fill this gap, this study builds upon and updates earlier work in this field. Using additional and more up-to-date information, it analyzes the overall trends in agricultural trade between developing countries for a longer time period and in more detail; examines in greater depth a few issues pertaining to the relationship between intratrade and overall trade, and the commodity composition and geographic distribution of intratrade; and offer two new analyses: the effects of trade liberalization on intratrade, and quantitative projections of future levels of intratrade.
