AGRICULTURE SECTOR LOAN I

Project to help finance new or expanded Government of Tanzania (GOT) programs aimed at increasing production by small farmers and improving the infrastructure serving them.

Abstract

A $12 million A.I.D. loan will make local currency available to the GOT, which is undergoing a severe balance of payments deficit, for use in its agricultural budget for FY"s 1975-76. Specifically, the funds will be used for agricultural activities selected by A.I.D. and the GOT from a $16 million eligibility list. A.I.D. will also work with the GOT on policy reform while looking to the World Bank to take the lead in the policy area.
