Grant is provided under the Panama Immediate Recovery project (5250302) to the Asociacion Nacional para la Conservacion de la Naturaleza (ANCON) to provide immediate employment to the communities adjoining the Soberania and Chagres nature reserves, while implementing critical conservation actions to protect the fragile Panama Canal watershed.

Abstract
ANCON will: (1) implement reforestation and reserve boundary maintenance activities, which will create approximately 11,795 person-days of employment; (2) establish a 40-hectare demonstration tree farm for environmental education activities; and (3) strengthen its operational and administrative capacity to complete the field conservation projects.
