Project to study the use of prostaglandins as abortifacients.
1973

Abstract
The research will be conducted by the University of Singapore. The effectiveness of prostaglandins as abortifacients having already been well established, research will focus on improving formulations, simplifying administration, and achieving longer duration of action. Using pregnant women as subjects, researchers will perform clinical trials of prostaglandins for the termination of pregnancy in the second trimester, the first trimester, and the first two weeks of pregnancy, to examine and compare the mechanisms of action of various formulations of naturally occurring and synthetic prostaglandins, as well as possible side effects. The project will include training for research fellows from other countries and collaborative clinical trials.
