AID grant to the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA - Uganda) to carry out public education activities regarding the laws of inheritance and succession of property in the Mpigi and Mukono districts of Uganda

Grant is provided under the Democracy and Human Rights Fund Project in Africa to the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA - Uganda) to set up a will writing project to (1) increase the awareness of men and women in Mpigi and Mukono districts of Uganda, of their rights, obligations, and procedures with regard to the laws of inheritance and succession to property of deceased persons; (2) increase their knowledge and skill in will writing; and (3) equip them with will format forms.

Abstract

The project seeks to address the legal, sociocultural, and economic problems pertaining to inheritance and success, and to improve the conditions of women and children in social and economic development. It is expected to reach some 3,000 persons in the two districts through seminars, workshops, meetings, home visits, and the distribution of pamphlets.
