Grant to the Seton Institute for International Development (SIID) to develop and implement a PVO health promotion network serving low-income women and pre-school children in the health regions of Lima, Trujillo, and Arequipa, Peru.
1985

Abstract
Health sector PVO"s already working in the three project regions will be brought together to form a collaborative network to expand and improve the provision of selected primary health care services, e.g., growth monitoring, oral rehydration, breastfeeding, immunizations, as well as to identify, refer, and provide follow-up services for women with high-risk pregnancies. In addition, a Regional Resource Center will be established in each region. Each Center will have four basic programs: (1) a regional education center; (2) a system for purchasing and distributing pharmaceuticals; (3) a two-way system for delivering technical information; and (4) operational research projects. The project will train PVO"s in these four areas and will also develop an inventory of all health sector PVO"s working in the three regions, a financial plan describing alternative sources of revenue for the PVO"s, and a methodology for expanding the network to other regions in Peru. The project will fund TA services and the administrative and operational costs of the Centers; the purchase of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies will be funded by member PVO"s.
