USAID. MISSION TO EGYPT
Project, follow-on to 2630033, to improve and modernize the electrical network serving Alexandria, Egypt.
1989

Abstract
The project"s two components - rehabilitation of the existing network and installation of a control center - will be implemented by, respectively, two units within the Ministry of Electricity and Energy - the Alexandria Electrical Distribution Company (AEDC) and the Egyptian Electricity Authority (EEA). The AEDC will modernize the electrical distribution system by: (1) installing about 250 km of 11-kv underground cable and 20 11-kv distribution points; (2) renovating 600 transformer points and associated overhead circuits; and (3) renovating 17,000 service connections. The EEA will install a dispatch control center to collect and display the data needed for monitoring the electrical system. A.I.D. will finance equipment costs, consultants (16 and 17 person-years for the AEDC and EEA, respectively), and training of AEDC and EEA personnel.
