1995

Abstract
housing industry know-how to the emerging Polish housing industry. The project was implemented by the Washington, D.C.-based Home Builders Institute (HBI). The APHBI was established (a young and capable professional staff was recruited to manage the Institute) and was provided with assistance in creating financial and personnel management systems and a business plan to guide APHBI through and beyond the contract period. In turn, APHBI provided Polish home builders with U.S. TA, research, and training, resulting in the development of the Polish Association of Home Builders (PHABH) in 1995. The PHABH is a member-based institution which is designed to sustain the Polish private housing industry in a market economy through education, information dissemination, and representation of the common interests of the industry. APHBI also used U.S. training and TA to improve Polish builders" construction expertise, business skills, and understanding of the market economy.
