Abstract
The initiative aims to improve reading skills among children in Cambodia, with a focus on disadvantaged communities. The program targets 12 provinces, including Banteay Meanchey, Battambang, Kampong Cham, Kampong Chhnang, Kandal, Pursat, Sihanoukville, Svay Rieng, Takéo, Kampong Speu, and Prey Veng. The initiative has established 12 Provincial Teacher Training Centers (PTTCs) across the targeted provinces. These centers provide training and support to teachers, with a focus on improving reading skills among children. The program also includes the establishment of demonstration plots, which showcase sustainable agriculture practices and provide a model for farmers to adopt. The All Children Reading–Cambodia initiative has made significant progress in improving reading skills among children in Cambodia. The program has reached over 2,500 farmers, with a 60% increase in yield improvements in demonstration plots. Community feedback has indicated strong adoption of sustainable agriculture practices, with women-headed households showing higher adoption rates. The midterm evaluation has shown a 27% increase in household income among program participants, with improved food security indicators across all target communities. The program has also established a network of PTTCs, which provide training and support to teachers. The initiative continues to work towards its goal of improving reading skills among children in Cambodia, with a focus on disadvantaged communities.
