Assistance in urban planning and development for the city of Warsaw, Poland

The following topics are covered: (1) Warsaw"s urban development challenges and opportunities; (2) Poland"s macroeconomic climate, including ongoing economic reforms and the effect they are likely to have on the future urban development of Warsaw; (3) the evolving institutional structure of government and property rights and how that structure shapes urban economic development opportunities; (4) infrastructure needs and the ability of Warsaw"s municipal finance system to support modernization and expansion requirements; (5) Warsaw"s urban planning system and how it can be adapted to the demands of a market-oriented urban economy; and (6) the South Warsaw Airport Project. The report concludes with a detailed set of recommendations for TA activities. (Author abstract)
