Abstract
Part I lists works on gender in relation to agriculture and natural resources, covering sustainable agriculture, agricultural research, women"s role in natural resource management and conservation, and agroforestry. Part II includes studies on women"s civic participation and roles in democratization, as well as legal issues related to gender and women"s status. Part III deals with human resource issues, including education (formal education, economic returns to education, and vocational training); health care (maternal and child health care and health care financing and delivery to women); and "women in development" programs, including those of nongovernmental organizations. The works cited in Part IV examine the impact of poverty on women, especially on female household heads and urban women, along with efforts to meet basic human needs. Part V presents materials containing general statistics on women"s status. The final section looks at how trade and investment policies affect women and presents information on women in various parts of the labor force. Includes an index of personal and institutional authors.
