Abstract
The initiative was led by the Comité de ganaderos, the gobernación, and the cooperation international represented by GGGI and the program ADC - Riqueza natural of USAID. The event, which combined in-person and virtual participation, brought together 140 individuals, including representatives from various entities and companies such as CIPAV, FORESTPA, SOMEX, BANCOLOMBIA, and the program GANSO. Through a virtual transmission, the participants were able to learn about the advances of the sustainable livestock model and its importance in the care of water, biodiversity, and the environment. The gobernador of the department, the director regional of the ICA, and other stakeholders committed to supporting the initiative and making livestock production in Guaviare a sustainable and environmentally-friendly activity. The program Riqueza Natural of USAID, through the Task order control to deforestation in Amazonia, works with the Contraloría delegada for the sector of Environment to establish the plan of work and identify the team of professionals who will provide technical support. In the next months, with the accompaniment provided by USAID, the Contraloría will have technical tools such as a geovisor that will serve as a repository of geographical and biodiversity information to support the processes of fiscal control. The agreement between the Contraloría General de la República and USAID aims to strengthen the institutional capacity in the vigilance and fiscal control of transversal and related sectors to environmental matters in the country. The program Riqueza Natural of USAID, through the Task order control to deforestation in Amazonia, works with the Contraloría delegada for the sector of Environment to establish the plan of work and identify the team of professionals who will provide technical support. The initiative to create a group of first responders to forest fires has been promoted by the Program Riqueza Natural Acción Contra la Deforestación - ADC of USAID in the period prior to the forest fire season in the region. The program has been working with the 6 Asociaciones of the department, the fire departments of the municipalities, the municipalities, and the communities to train representatives of the Juntas de Acción Comunal in the rural areas of the municipalities. This initiative aims to promote the creation of a group of firefighters who will contribute to counteracting the impact of the fires and mitigating the conservation of the forest. The program Riqueza Natural of USAID has been working with the Contraloría delegada for the sector of Environment to establish the plan of work and identify the team of professionals who will provide technical support. The Contraloría will have technical tools such as a geovisor that will serve as a repository of geographical and biodiversity information to support the processes of fiscal control. The PEII of the zone Futuro de Chiribiquete and adjacent natural parks was approved by the National Security Council in June 2020. This initiative aims to accelerate the implementation of the PDTS in the focalized zones, contributing to the territorial control by the institutions. The program Riqueza Natural of USAID has been working with the Contraloría delegada for the sector of Environment to establish the plan of work and identify the team of professionals who will provide technical support. The núcleos de desarrollo forestal are an initiative that aims to establish areas where, through community management, activities of ecotourism, timber and non-timber resource exploitation are carried out in a sustainable manner, as well as the generation of income through environmental services. This initiative is linked to 232 veredas and an approximate area of 4.3 million hectares in the departments of Caquetá, Meta, and Guaviare.
