Abstract
USAID"s education strategy, from 2005, defines Workforce Development as "programs and policy efforts that support young people and adults in gaining the specific skills and attitudes they need to be productively employed." The Agency"s Foreign Assistance Framework more broadly defines Workforce Development as activities that support "...youth and adults in acquiring knowledge and developing skills, attitudes, and behaviors to find legitimate jobs, establish viable self-employment ventures, and stay employed and productive in a changing economy." In short, Workforce Development is all about jobs. Alliances in this sector bring partners and resources together to generate or increase employment prospects. (Author abstract, modified)
