Abstract
The program has 32 cleared activities totaling $1,125,999 and 52 activities pending totaling $474,197. CVE programming in the Sahel region has been successful in promoting social cohesion and community engagement. A notable initiative, the "Tournament of Hope," was organized by BFRP in collaboration with a local organization. The event brought together players from different ethnic groups in a soccer tournament, attracting over 1,500 spectators. Community leaders and a local theater company participated in the event, discussing the importance of social cohesion and peace. The tournament provided an opportunity for community members, particularly youth, to unite around a common goal. Women vendors in the Sahel region have also been engaged in CVE programming through BFRP's work with a local association. Thirty women vendors received training on strategies and techniques to encourage resiliency to attempted violent extremist organization (VEO) recruitment among youth. The training focused on persuasion and analysis techniques, which the women vendors are committed to applying in their daily interactions with clients. This initiative aims to decrease tensions and promote a sense of peace in their communities. The BFRP's CVE programming in the Sahel region has shown promising results. Community members, including youth, have been brought together through events like the "Tournament of Hope." Women vendors have also been empowered to promote peace and resiliency in their communities. These initiatives demonstrate the program's commitment to countering violent extremism and promoting social cohesion in the region. The BFRP's CVE programming in the Sahel region is part of a broader effort to address violent extremism in Burkina Faso. The program's activities are designed to promote community engagement, social cohesion, and resiliency to VEO recruitment. By engaging local communities and empowering women vendors, the BFRP aims to create a more peaceful and stable environment in the region.
