Abstract
BFRP's efforts focus on providing vocational training to youth and supporting the development of local economic opportunities. In the Nord region, BFRP worked with a local organization to rehabilitate a youth center that had fallen into disuse due to poor maintenance and dwindling resources. The rehabilitation provided space for meetings, awareness raising, and vocational training sessions. BFRP then reengaged with the local association to identify and train 25 youth, including eight girls, in various trades such as dressmaking, motorcycle repair, carpentry, and maintenance of solar power equipment. The training combined theoretical and practical exercises, as well as discussions on Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) and basic notions of marketing and small business management. Upon completion of the training, beneficiaries received a toolkit to help them start their own small business. In the Sahel region, BFRP supported a local association to rehabilitate a local butchery facility and equip it with modern meat storage and conservation equipment. A total of 40 butchers were trained on healthy meat production techniques, quality standards, and the management and maintenance of facilities and equipment. The training sessions were scheduled in the afternoons to accommodate the butchers' business activities, allowing them to focus on building their capacities. This training helped the butchers better understand the standards of meat production, processing, and marketing. The vocational training programs implemented by BFRP aim to provide vulnerable youth with viable income sources and support the development of local economic opportunities. By targeting strategic communities and providing training and equipment, BFRP seeks to reduce the economic vulnerability of local residents and promote stability in the region. The BFRP's efforts in the Nord and Sahel regions demonstrate the program's commitment to addressing the root causes of instability and promoting economic development. By supporting local organizations and providing training and equipment, BFRP aims to create a more stable and prosperous environment for the people of Burkina Faso.
