Abstract
The cooperative Riobambenos del Rio Chilimpe was selected for extensive study. Production processes and family income structure was analyzed for 22 farmers for calendar year 1967. The most important sources of income for the majority of farmers were, in order: crop sales, livestock sales, and timber sales. 59% of family receipts for the average farmer were provided by crop sales. The most important crop was plantain. Important developmental benefits of land settlement in Santo Domingo de Los Colorados include: economic integration, redistribution of income, and creation of a modern agricultural sector.
