Abstract
Members of the CFPA, Family Planning Associations (FPA"s), are located in the following countries and territories: Anguilla, Antigua, Aruba, Curacao, Dominica, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Guyana, Martinique, Montserrat, St. Kitts/Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Marten, St. Vincent, Suriname, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. CFPA will implement a regional information and education program to raise its public profile, encourage wider acceptance of family planning, and stimulate recognition of the issues and problems of Caribbean family life. The program will include the production and distribution of a CFPA newsletter to share information between FPA"s about their respective activities and ongoing CFPA efforts, as well as to provide the regional print media with articles on family planning, population, and development. CFPA will also produce and broadcast pilot radio dramas in St. Kitts/Nevis and St. Vincent about family life and family planning. At their request, CFPA will produce and distribute audiovisual materials to the FPA"s, along with prepackaged slide/sound sets and other standard slide/sound equipment. In addition, CFPA will sponsor in-country workshops in communication, family planning, and family life planning for field staff and others. To improve its institutional capabilities, CFPA will implement community-based distribution projects in St. Kitts/Nevis and Grenada. These projects will provide area inhabitants with convenient and inexpensive access to contraceptive services by establishing networks of non-clinical delivery points. Technical assistance will be extended to FPA"s in the areas of project evaluation, management, and development, as well as in information and education. Funding will be available to FPA personnel to observe other FPA"s and project activities. FPA"s will also be supplied with commodities, including contraceptives.
