This study focuses on the changes in rural consumption patterns in Taiwan over the 1960 period.
Chin, Amy L. · 1970

Abstract
This included identifying major determinants of consumption patterns as well as income elasticities of demand for various categories of consumption goods. The data used in the analysis was drawn from a farm recordkeeping project in Taiwan. The analysis showed that consumption patterns changed substantially over the decade under study. Expenditures on non-staple food, human investments and consumer durables increased sharply and associated income elasticities of demand were quite high. Fragmentary evidence suggested that widespread availability of attractive consumer durables in rural areas during the late 1960"s may have induced average propensities to consume to increase.
