Community-based breastfeeding support : a guide for trainers and supervisors

Specifically, it explains how to: recruit, select, train, and supervise community workers; communicate effectively; help women work through their emotions about pregnancy and motherhood; make individual contacts with mothers; establish and facilitate breastfeeding support groups; and conduct community education activities to promote breastfeeding. The guide draws on the experience of many successful program models throughout the region, using examples wherever possible. It also provides references to other written materials for further information on existing training and program models.
