Cooperative agreement no. 521-0169-A-00-3029-00 : Caribbean Basin initiative supplemental appropriation
Sign inUSAID. MISSION TO HAITI
Cooperative agreement with Agricultural Cooperative Development International (ACDI) to assess the feasibility of producing winter vegetables for export in Haiti and of developing an agricultural station as a center for servicing such production by medium and small farmers.
1983
Abstract
ACDI and two subcontractors, World Wide Development, Ltd. and Capital Consult, S.A., will implement the project. A variety of analyses will be conducted, focusing on site selection, marketing and production feasibility, packing and transportation requirements, and organizational needs, the latter including the scope and nature of medium and small farmer involvement. Once a potential site has been chosen, a pilot farm, which will include a small area for variety, density fertilization, and other trials, will be established to test feasibility with minimum export quantities; most of the pilot farm costs will be borne by an Israeli investor group. Should the feasibility studies and pilot tests prove persuasive, a proposal for implementing an export marketing program will be submitted to A.I.D.
