Abstract
The DEC is a free and searchable database that provides access to U.S. international aid records. As of February 2020, the DEC contains over 16,600 peer-reviewed publications, including locally-generated research, supporting countries' journeys to self-reliance. The DEC Express is a monthly newsletter that features materials in the DEC about topics in the news, USAID program evaluations, and recent, popular, and most downloaded documents. The newsletter highlights new additions to the peer-reviewed publications collection, recent additions by sector, and featured documents. The DEC Express also provides information on how to subscribe to the newsletter and access the DEC database. The DEC database is organized by sector, including agriculture and food security, democracy, human rights, and governance, education, economic growth and trade, gender equality and women's empowerment, global health, science and technology, and water and sanitation. Each sector section lists recent additions, including final evaluation reports, special evaluations, and contractor/grantee reports. The DEC is a valuable resource for USAID staff, implementing partners, and the American public looking for U.S. international aid records. The database provides access to a wide range of publications, evaluations, and research studies, making it an essential tool for data-informed decision-making in support of USAID's commitment to increasing public access to foreign assistance records. The DEC Express newsletter and the DEC database are made possible through support provided by USAID Data Services, Office of the Chief Information Officer, Bureau for Management (M/CIO), U.S. Agency for International Development. The opinions expressed in the DEC Express and the DEC database are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the views of the U.S. Agency for International Development. The DEC database is a valuable resource for anyone interested in U.S. international aid records, and the DEC Express newsletter provides a convenient way to stay up-to-date on new additions and recent publications. The DEC is a testament to the variety and quality of research supporting countries' journeys to self-reliance, and it demonstrates the usability of USAID-funded data and research in compliance with the Foundations of Evidence-based Policymaking Act and the Public Access Plan.
