Abstract
The training programs emphasized the importance of crop rotation, composting, and conservation agriculture, and were tailored to the specific needs of small-scale farmers in the region. The initiative's focus on women-headed households was a deliberate strategy to address the disproportionate impact of poverty and food insecurity on women in rural Rwanda. The evaluation also highlighted the importance of market access in improving food security, with program participants in areas with improved market access showing higher levels of food security and income. The initiative's success was attributed to a combination of factors, including the effective implementation of the three key interventions, strong community engagement and participation, and the provision of technical assistance and support to farmers. The initiative's focus on sustainable agriculture practices and market access has the potential to improve food security and reduce poverty in rural Rwanda, and serves as a model for similar initiatives in other parts of the country.
