Abstract
The project will provide long- and short-term TA, degree and non-degree training, and related commodities to support critical areas of Mongolia"s economic development agenda. Resources will be focused on developing the small and medium scale enterprise and commercial banking sectors while encouraging the GOM to create and implement sound economic development policies. Illustrative project activities in the area of economic policy include technical advice for the GOM for making policies that support the development of the private sector, and assessing the impact of proposed and enacted reforms; and creating a multi-sectoral forum for analyzing policy implementation. Activities in the commercial banking sector include strengthening the sector"s capacity to become an active and knowledgeable voice in the GOM"s economic policy debate and strengthening banks" operational skills. Activities in the private sector might include developing the business management and entrepreneurial skills of Mongolia"s small and medium scale enterprises. The use of buy-ins, especially to the Regional Technical Support Project and the East Asia Regional Training Project, will greatly diminish the administrative burden of procuring TA and training services.
