Abstract
The project's primary objective is to improve the health and well-being of the Burmese population, with a focus on maternal, newborn, and child health. The project's scope encompasses a range of activities, including the implementation of the Essential Package of Health Services (EPHS), the provision of training and technical assistance to healthcare providers, and the promotion of health education and awareness among communities. The project also focuses on the prevention and control of infectious diseases, such as tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS. One of the key interventions of the project is the establishment of Basic Health Services Units (BHSUs) in rural areas, which provide essential health services to communities. The project also supports the development of community-based health programs, including the training of community health workers and the establishment of community health committees. The project's geographic focus is on the Yangon and Ayeyarwady regions, where the majority of the Burmese population resides. The project's implementation is guided by a workplan that was adjusted to reflect the current situation in Burma, with the approval of USAID. The project's progress is monitored through a range of performance indicators, including the number of BHSUs established, the number of healthcare providers trained, and the number of communities reached through health education and awareness programs. The project's midterm evaluation revealed a significant increase in the number of healthcare providers trained and the number of communities reached through health education and awareness programs. The project's budget for the reporting period from October 2020 to September 2021 was $X million, which was allocated to support the implementation of the project's activities. The project's financial information is presented in Annex 3 of this report. The project's success is attributed to the strong collaboration among the project partners, including Jhpiego, Koe Koe Tech, Pact, Population Services International, and ThinkWell. The project's achievements are also a result of the support provided by USAID and the Burmese government. The project's lessons learned highlight the importance of community engagement and participation in the implementation of health programs. The project's experience also underscores the need for flexible and adaptive programming to respond to the changing needs of the Burmese population. The project's future plans include the continuation of the EPHS implementation, the expansion of community-based health programs, and the strengthening of the BHSU network. The project's success will depend on the continued support of USAID and the Burmese government, as well as the commitment of the project partners to achieving the project's objectives.
