Abstract
Generally, it attempts to answer what kinds of effects (changes) can be observed; and what the characteristics of the materials and procedures are, as they can be related locally and/or empirically to the desirable outcomes. The evaluation design was devised to answer as objectively as possible the thirteen questions examined in Volume III of this report evaluation. The design has two components: 1) The ex- perimental field implementation and concurrent evaluation of the University of Massachusetts non-formal education games that are among the most widely used or most widely accepted education games (the University of California Los Angeles intervention study); and 2) The University of Massachusetts non-formal educa- tion intervention impact study, covering a detailed "impact pro- file" for each community, a qualitative analysis of the Universi- ty of Massachusetts intervention, and individual testing of game session participants. This report examines in detail both of these studies.
