Subproject to support efforts of the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM) to increase the delivery of maternal child health/family planning (MCH/FP) services by African midwives.

Abstract
To this end, ACNM will: (1) help Ministries of Health, health institutions, and associations develop, implement, and evaluate MCH/FP training programs for traditional birth attendants (TBA"s); and (2) provide TA and training to help health officials integrate MCH and FP concerns into the basic curriculum of national midwifery schools. The subproject will be implemented in Ghana (as a continuation of 698046241), as well as in Uganda and a third country categorized by A.I.D. as a child survival country. Quantitative targets are, inter alia, to train 150 trainers of TBA"s and 1,500 TBA"s.
