Abstract
Individual chapters discuss the status and performance of Bangladesh"s fertilizer sector, analyze the fertilizer marketing system and marketing policy, evaluate fertilizer price and subsidy policies, and discuss the impact of deregulation on retail fertilizer prices. The concluding summary chapter of the report - which provides a systematic framework potentially adaptable to other developing countries - recommends promoting retail fertilizer price deregulation and improving fertilizer supply management so as to ensure low and stable prices. Two appendices detail the data and scope of the study and provide price data by market categories and districts. The study contains 69 tables and 23 graphs.
