SAVE THE CHILDREN (U.S.)
Final evaluation of a project (9/89-9/91) to prevent HIV/AIDS in Swaziland.
Munz, Monique|Sampson, Anita · 1991

Abstract
The project was implemented jointly by Project HOPE and the Family Life Association of Swaziland (FLAS). The project achieved all of its stated objectives. These were to: assess the knowledge, attitudes, beliefs, and practices (KABP) of 2,000 persons concerning the prevention of HIV infection; (2) use baseline data and KABP surveys to develop education programs on HIV prevention for all persons in the target areas; (3) establish HIV/AIDS information and counseling centers at key institutions; and (4) improve outreach into the community by making HIV information dissemination the responsibility of traditional healers, Sebenta educators, and leaders for non-school going youths. Specific accomplishments are detailed in the report, along with areas needing improvement (in view of the 9/91-9/93 funding period) and related recommendations.
