Final report of the three-week workshop on advanced training in population and social development : Egypt

The workshop was held 5/23-6/10/81 in Cairo, Egypt, and was sponsored jointly by the University of Chicago"s Community and Family Study Center and the GOE"s State Information Service. Fifty-six Egyptian professionals from various GOE ministries and agencies attended the workshop and received courses, in English and Arabic, on: basic communication theory; family planning promotion; the message content of social development programs; person-to-person communication; mass media usage; communication research; and the planning and management of communication programs. All participants attended core courses, but were divided into tracks for specialized study. Participants rated the workshop favorably in all aspects (except for the scheduling of some track courses late in the day), but considered it too short. Most desired follow-up activities to reinforce ideas generated by the workshop.
