Final grantee report on a project to promote human rights awareness in Uganda through the production of two publications and research and documentation on human rights violations.
1991

Abstract
The project was a success. Two issues of the Activist magazine were published and 1,000 copies distributed. (A copy of the second issue is appended to this report.) A good number of the Ugandan population have been able to read the magazine. Three issues of a second publication, the Human Rights Report, were published, with 300 copies distributed. This publication was used as the basis of dialogue with the government and helped inform the international community and general public of major developments in the area of human rights abuse. The grantee, Uganda Human Rights Activists, faces major constraints in continuing project activities. The organization lacks funds for: purchasing stationery and employing research staff for the magazine; conducting study missions and visits to scenes of human rights incidents; and good printing services.
