Grant agreement between USAID and Cooperative for American Relief Everywhere, Inc. for rural penetration roads in Sierra Leone
Sign inUSAID. MISSION TO SIERRA LEONE
Grant to CARE for a project to construct 900 miles of rural penetration roads in Sierra Leone over a 3-year period.
1975

Abstract
Government of Sierra Leone (GOSL) project committees will identify areas where penetration roads would have the greatest impact on swampland rice development and will arrange for the necessary commodity and equipment inputs. GOSL highway maintenance vehicles will be rehabilitated and repaired for use on this project, and eight engineers will be recruited from the Peace Corps, Volunteers in Service Overseas (United Kingdom), and Canadian University Students Overseas. Local farmers will contribute their labor to the construction effort in return for the right to develop sections of the swampland after road construction is completed.
