High lysine corn production OPG

The crops will be marketed through Bienestarina processing plants operated by the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare (ICBF) and/or the Colombian Coffee Federation"s (CCF) animal concentrate plant in Popayan, Cauca) for distribution to the nutritionally at-risk poor majority, particularly pregnant and lactating mothers and pre-school children. CARE will collaborate with ICBF, CCF, the Colombian Agricultural Extension Service, and the Center for Tropical Agricultural Investigation to implement the project. It is expected that corn production will reach 4,000 tons/yr on approximately 2,000 ha of land by the end of the project.
