Abstract
As part of the analysis, 598 households were randomly selected to assess the impact of various variables on household food insecurity. Based on descriptive statistics and logistic regression analysis results, small households (1-9 persons) seem to be the most vulnerable households in Zondoma province. In addition, households headed by women are the most vulnerable to food insecurity and are 50% more likely to be food insecure than households headed by men. The length of participation in project activities significantly influenced the rate of household adoption of new technologies introduced by the project and its level of impact on household food security. The land rehabilitation and water conservation activities introduced by the ZFSI II project are very effective tools in reducing household vulnerability to food insecurity in Zondoma. Data collected by the ZFSI II project also confirmed the importance of livestock in household food security and livelihood. (Author abstract, modified)
