Abstract
personnel in the Latin America and Caribbean Bureau on the design and implementation of projects to improve women"s economic status. Directed especially to Missions" Project Development Support Office and Technical Offices, this guidebook: (1) provides background information on the economic importance of women in the Latin American and Caribbean region; (2) identifies institutional and procedural factors that have constrained the integration of women"s concerns into project design; (3) suggests the roles and responsibilities of each Mission office, along with measures to improve accountability; (4) provides general guidelines for project design, implementation, and evaluation; and (5) makes concrete, specific suggestions on how to integrate women into microenterprise, agricultural, housing, and vocational and participant training projects. A 4-page list of information sources on women"s socioeconomic activities, both regional and country-specific, is included.
