Abstract
A preface outlines highlights of 1985 activities and discusses IBPGR"s new emphasis on research, especially that aimed at facilitating the transfer of germplasm technology to field operations. The major components of the IBPGR system are then described, including: IBPGR"s global network of cooperation; germplasm acquisition, conservation, characterization, and evaluation; documentation and data management; training; and administration. Two special projects (a series of collecting missions in Nepal and a Europe-wide program for six crops or groups of crops) are also described. Personnel and financial information are contained in the appendices, which also include translations of the 1985 activity highlights into French, Spanish, Chinese, and Arabic.
