1981
Abstract
Special PES covers the period 9/77-9/80 and is based on document review, interviews with IFRP staff, and site visits to IFRP offices at Research Triangle, North Carolina and in New York. The IFRP has continued to make progress in dealing with recommendations made by A.I.D. in 9/77. While continuing its work on evaluating fertility regulation methods, the IFRP is also supporting development of postpartum intrauterine devices and is studying female sterilization and the mid- and long-term safety of various contraceptives. The IFRP is commended for its plans to develop and provide training on new data processing systems and software appropriate to developing country needs. Nonetheless, recommendations (not sited herein) were made regarding means to strengthen the IFRP"s organization, staffing, and research. This evaluation serves as a basis for initiating a new 3-year (FY81-FY83) extension of the project, contingent upon onsite review of the IFRP by an evaluation team.
